MALAYSIA (The Forth Series) Type 2

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) announced in September 2016 that Malaysian banknotes bearing the signature of Governor Tan Sri Muhammad bin Ibrahim is circulated in stages starting with the first batch of RM50 banknotes.

Tan Sri Muhammad bin Ibrahim is the 8th Governor of BNM. He assumed the office of Governor on 1 May 2016, succeeding Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz.  He tendered his resignation  on 6 June 2018.

UNITED STATES - 1976–Current

The $2 bill originally featured a portrait of Alexander Hamilton, but was later redesigned to portray Thomas Jefferson. Aesthetically, the $2 bill is something to behold. The reverse side features a reproduction of one of the most famous paintings in American history: "Declaration of Independence" by John Trumbull. 

Excluding the decade from 1966 to 1976, $2 bills have been printed uninterruptedly since the Civil War. Yet, the average American who doesn't handle cash for a living can go years without seeing one. While the $2 note is still in circulation and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing recognizes it as legal tender—it is considered to be the rarest currency denomination in the U.S.

Thailand. Series 17 Banknotes

In 2018, the Bank of Thailand announced a new family of banknotes featuring a portrait of its current king, Maha Vajiralongkorn. The main colors and dimensions of the notes are the same as before, with the back designs featuring images of the Kings of Thailand from past to present. The 20, 50 and 100 baht banknotes were issued on Chakri Memorial Day, April 6, 2018. The final two denominations, 500 and 1,000 baht were issued on the anniversary of the birth of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, July 28, 2018.

Mauritius. Currently circulating banknotes

The first banknotes were issued by the government dated 1876 in denominations of 5, 10 and 50 rupees. 1-rupee banknotes were added in 1919. In 1940, emergency issues were made of 25 and 50 cents and 1 rupee. In 1954, 25 and 1000 rupees were introduced. The Bank of Mauritius was established in September 1967 as the nation’s central bank and has been responsible for the issue of banknotes and coins since that time.

MALAYSIA (The Forth Series) Type 1

Bank Negara Malaysia has announced that the new Malaysian banknotes series will be introduced into circulation from 16 July 2012, replacing the current series that has been in circulation for over ten years. Themed ‘Distinctively Malaysia’, the banknotes feature intricate illustrations of the nation’s culture and traditions.

In this series, the RM2 banknote was no longer issued, while a new RM20 banknote was included in the line-up. This new series of banknote will co-circulate with the existing banknotes which remain as legal tender.

The smaller denominations of banknotes (RM 1, RM 5) are more commonly used in day-to-day transactions and printed on polymer to increase their level of durability. The larger denominations remain printed on paper.
